Tong polishes up on the latest technological advances

Tong Engineering, the UK’s leading designer and manufacturer of handling and sorting equipment for the vegetable industry, has introduced a new generation crop polishing system, as part of its 2012 range of farm and pack house machinery.

Designed with the latest technological advances in mind, the TPS-Pro Vegetable Polisher features an electric direct drive inside every shaft, self contained stainless steel motors within their own oil baths, and waterproof sealed bearings. These key features virtually remove the need for equipment maintenance or lubrication, providing exceptional labour efficiency.

The polisher is fitted with a unique drive system with gold-plated contact points for optimum longevity and efficiency. Accordingly, internally sealed drum motors and unique design eliminates rust or corrosion within the system, as well as facilitating fast and easy brush exchange.

In addition, Tong’s new polisher has been developed with the highest levels of flexibility in mind and as such, can be used on a variety of crop from potatoes and carrots to parsnips and beetroot.

Manufactured in a 14 brush model featuring a 3m long x 800mm barrel, as well as an 18 brush model featuring a 3m long x 1050mm barrel, the TPS-Pro polisher provides outputs of between 15-30 tons per hour and can be integrated into static lines, or specified as a stand alone model.
